In the past few years, e-retail and eCommerce has pretty much organised itself and except for a few big names, the most successful ones are the niche-market or niche-segment portals which cater to a specific need of the consumer. Standard products which the consumer may have already purchased or there isnt much to 'look-and-feel' at/of the product, Online segments such as Pet Care products, Packaged Products, Magazines, Books, etc. In the times to come, more external factors like traffic, weather, stock availability, accessiblity of stores, etc will help promote eCommerce automatically.

Hi Darpan,

Read your article in Impact Magazine. You make some good points, however, I would like to add another factor that will help the ecommerce adoption in India. All the new alternative payment methods such as ITZ card etc. are going to ease the security concerns related to credit card transactions. This could help in improving ecommerce adoption as well.
