Sir I have read 2 articles of your , the first being The future of e-commerce in India & the second being Online Business Models for India.I found both of them very useful.
Actually I am reading articles related to retail to make a small presentation on the following:
1. Even as the unprecedented credit crisis adversely affected the world economy in 2008, online shopping sites seemed to perform better than traditional retailers which were severely impacted. Analyze the e-retail business model and compare its strengths and weaknesses with brick and mortar retail. Give reasons for its worldwide growth, providing relevant facts and figures, and also details of some major online retailers. Given the growing retail sector in India, what are the future prospects for e-tailing in India?

The presentation is a part of the selection procedure to get admission to a B-School. The presentation is to be done orally for 5-7 min.without help of any aids.

I am particularlt interested in knowing how to answer :Analyze the e-retail business model & Give reasons for e-retail worldwide growth, providing relevant facts and figures in the above question.

Sir, I would be glad if you could give me some suggestion especially for analysing e-retail business model.

Hi Darpan,

I look forward to seeing future post on Indian retail opportunity ( I think current;y you are covering global best practises and trends like Kaboodle).

I agree completely with tagline, the Indian eCommerce is at its nascency but with the offline retail industry becoming more organized the stage is set for explosive growth.

Do you have any numbers/facts about the offline retail industry? I know Bharti, Reliance, Birla are investment crores of Rupees, but do you know e.g. how many suppliers they are vertically integrating wit.

Just a thought .. look forward to learning more from your blog !
