I found this article really fascinating and it has helped form the basis of a research project I am working on. I would be really interested to know more about online communities forming the new era of retail. I was first focussing on websites such as Threadless, MySoti etc where the community submits the product design, but also selects which will be on sale, as well as moderate price decision making. Now I am thinking this could be expanded as a concept for other retail areas. I have seen some examples of the concepts you brought forward, but it would be a great help if you had any references or a source list that helped develop this article? Thank you!

Sir,
Very interesting insight. The power of open source commodities will make change in the world of retailing. If every thing becomes web based, how an individual gets the real shopping experience? May be that, individual maynot even need such experience later...who knows?

Nice article. Really nice....we are now entering in the semantic web era....the human web of next generation and anything pertaining to web 3.0 is semantic. ecommerce with the changing trend of trading will change the conventional online necessities of shopping world. Web 2.0 was there to meet the marketing requirmentsof people for online retailing and web 3.0 will be there to make the marketing needs meet the people requirements. Nice foresight......

Hi Darpan,

The article is full of insights. Your foresight is really appreciable. But one thing that I would like to ask here as you mention that its shall be the collaborative work of the whole community starting from Listing a product to the development of Software, that whats the possibility of ideas clashing? And wherever a Vendor is introduced for reverse auctioning as you said, it shall come back to where we are. What happened to the reverse auctioning site called Razorfinish.com that was launched in India.

I might sound amateurish (which I am). But would like to know your valuable comments.
